Panini- Sandwich press: Do you cook items ie Egg, bacon and sausage before you put them into sandwich press?

So do you cooked constant items before you put them into a sandwich and then into the press?

the panini press is only to grill the shell of the sandwich, so anything inside should be already cooked...
