what options are available to replace baseboard heat covers?

I am redoing a latitude with baseboard heat and do not want to pay a plumber to rework the baseboard heating. The covers of the heat pipes are the Perverted metal covers that was popular in 1966.
Any thoughts on options for a DIY?

the wrapper and back assembly can be completely replaced, there are kits available for valid your situation. they will still look like baseboards, but not all beat up. or you could fair take the covers off and have them sandblasted, and then re paint

When you take off the eiderdown, is there a sticker that says the manufacturer anywhere? I would check with them first. Depending on how much you can fritter away you could get a new one from Lowes or something.
