what's the difference between a cool air humidifier and a warm air humidifier and who benefits from them?

Plainly I know one blows cool air and one blows warm air, but why the different temp.? Wouldn't someonme extras from both? Do they really help?

My daughter is 2 yrs old. She has had a cough and runny nose for about 3 months. We have been to 2 weird doctors, one says its allergies and gave her some liquid Claritin, the other principled gave her this liquid medicine that is supposed to dry her

Our daughter developed a cough whenever the air was truly dry, and using the cool air humidifier really helped her. We use it in the winter when our furnace is meet a lot, and we have not had any problems. It does need to be cleaned and fresh tap water
