Westwood C50D gas wall furnace bought in 1977 I shortage a parts diagram/Manual for this unit. I think the thermocouple needs to be replaced. Tough to find a website that deals with old or out of date furnaces.
Is it still competent? (Age causes a combustion chamber to lose competence... you may be wasting fuel with an old unit) It may be time to substitute for it anyway.

Our old Vulcan gas wall furnace still works very well but some of the render is worn off the metal louvred front grill (where I have hugged it!). Is it riskless to repaint this part. I do not want to start a fire.
you can step out it the same paint thet use on grills. ,or a car engine paint , pigment must be a high temp. paint .the frist time you use it opn all doors and windows.,harrow the smell is burned off.
