What size wire and breaker should I use to run a 2 ton Goodman heat pump unit?

I have a Goodman heat pump piece that I have purchased and the manual does not give vary good wiring examples. I have talked to people and they say that 12-3 with a 30 amp breaker will effort is this true?

Look at the amperage rating on the item. A 30 amp circuit requires a MINIMUM of #10 wire. #12 is for a 20 amp or less pale. If the unit requires 240V 30A, you will run either 10-2 or 10-3, depending on whether the piece requires a neutral, for 50 feet

I am in the deal with of upgrading my heat pump system. Goodman is less expensive (by $800 to $1000)... but is Trane advantage the extra cost? I'll be installing 14SEER system. Goodman dealer tells me Trane is bad because it is made of aluminum and
