Is it possible to program a heating/cooling unit to switch from cool to heat?

My 12 month old's bedroom is on the inferior merchandise floor of our house and there is a separate unit on that floor. I want the unit to whip from cool to heat when the temperature reaches a certain degree and vice versa. Is this practicable?
