I bought a house that was built in 1958 and has a gas furnace that appears to be about three years old (I say 3 yrs because bought house as foreclosure so no one knows accurately--but it looks fairly new everyone says). I tested it and it sounds OK and

It could be a slews of things fan speed on high,debris inthe blower hoop.Get an inspection/service call from an hvac contractor that someone you know has had a matter-of-fact experience with.It may just be a plugged filter,have you changed it?

an old house, gas water heater is 1 foot from the gas meter. Do we have to relocate heater for safety reason?

A very old rental, got a perceive from the Gas company indicating the gas meter is too close to the water heater. This is the primary blueprint of the house (properly permitted when it was built). Do we have to relocate the hose heater? Or are we grandfather

If the Gas Company has required it to be moved, then you privation to move it. If you don't, they will suspend your gas service. I think the main reason is due to the house being a rental.
