I have Euphemistic pre-owned them in a closed in shop with no problems. Just leave a minute door or window open so the fumes can escape. Those heaters are the greatest!!! We employed Kerosene in ours as well. There were not many fumes or vapors from it.

You as likely as not have dust in the pilot safety. Blow it out but don't monkey with the agitation on the pilot or it won't work right. the ODS pilot safety will get a cobweb in it, I use a hardly rust buster to flush the pilot.
