Sounds like a multispeed motor.
Diabolical is usually high speed, red is usually low speed.
Normally a unsullied would be neutral, but you don't mention white.

Jocular, I've been dealing with PTSD for the last four years (suppose I'm decisively coming out of it a bit) and I've often described my own psychotic processes as being a lot like a cage full of hamsters race frantically on hamster wheels.
